There isn't really a way to automate going from Japanese -> English characters. My first thought was maybe I could do a find and replace with regex or something, but like I mentioned in the other thread, some shows change their name slightly with each episode (Japanese characters have multiple readings so I can't just find and replace each character).
I also could just name the files with just the record time, but then the only source I have for metadata is the metadata file (which is a complete mess, as I mentioned in the other thread). I couldn't really ask you to add parsing for those files to MCEBuddy as it would be massively complex and just for me really.
The only other thing that comes to mind is that MAYBE I could run some sort of script before conversion that would convert the default metadata files into something more standard (Just taking the first five lines--which are standard across files-- will get airdate, program, and episode name). I know I can run a script after recording but I'm not sure if I'm capable enough with string parsing to make a script that will do what I want.
