Thats excellent.  I'd like to try the beta.  Can two versions be run on 1 machine?  If not, I can test on another.  Thanks for the excellent work you are doing on this!

You can try the TS from WTV/DVRMS/TS or the WTV Unprocessed profiles. If you original video is MPEG2, then using the profiles with Copy encoder will remove commercials without recoding them.

You can simply start by selecting one of these 3 profiles from the drop down list in the Conversion Task options from depending on what file type you're looking at:

1. TS from WTV/DVRMS/TS - which will create a TS files

2. WTV Unprocessed - which will create a WTV file

3. AVI MPEG2 - which will create a AVI file

Just going thru my setup with the same goal, to 'just remove the commercials' in WMC 7.

I suspect you want the WTV Unprocessed option.  The AVI option implies re-encoding,  AVI and TS files show up in the Media Library,  so far I found that only WTV and DVRMS show up in Recorded TV.

I do have a question as I am using the WTV Unprocessed option with the same goal but I believe it is re-encoding my mpeg2 audio into ac3 audio, which is OK within WMC, but there is an issue when accessing media center via my WD TV Live Plus which has a known problem with the ac3 encoding and I get no sound.   I know it works with the original audio encoding.

Looking in profiles.conf and at the [WTV Unprocessed] profile, I see the following lines:

ffmpeg-audio=-acodec ac3 -ab 192k
ffmpeg-audioac3=-acodec ac3 -ab 384K

which I believe are causing this re-encoding.

What would I change them to, to retain the original audio encoding?  I believe was the original question and drills into the suggestion to use the 'Copy encoder'?

New Post: 2 Feature requests: Commercials as chapter markers and loading the .SRT into the MP4

I have been using a powershell script to do similar functions to MCEBuddy. I would like to switch over to MCEBuddy to get some of the advanced features and simplify things...

However, there are two features that I need before switching (I use ATV2's and a shared Itunes library to do playback). Could these be added?

1) Mark Commercials as chapters vs. cutting. Unfortunately I have never been able to fully eliminate audio/video sync issues and now prefer it this way.

If it helps, I used MP4chaps (part of MP4v2 located at http://code.google.com/p/mp4v2/ ) to do the work.

2) Load the CC as an .SRT file into the MP4 ( I used MP4box).

I tried using the custom command but, can't get the full .SRT filename as a variable. I got a bit further by using the episode name, but that made problems with quotes and the extension ( i.e. "bad code".srt)

Let me know if I am missing something...

The conversion for 1 particular show on cnbc always never occurs. the first 10 or so minutes are fine but then the audio and what is on video is off several minutes. Any ideas how to address?

First the AVI MPEG-2 does not recode, actually if uses a -vcodec copy so it essentially copies the video stream but recodes the audio stream to keep it in sync.

However as I'm writing this I'm creating a new AVI MPEG2 profile for the next 2.3.12 beta release tomorrow which will use the copy encoder

Regarding the WTV unprocessed: this is the latest profile as per the BETA release.

[WTV Unprocessed]
Description=Creates WTV (MPEG-2) files by copying the video directly. It does not resize, remove black bars, deinterlace your videos or select audio language. Use this if you have high quality HD recordings which don't need processing.
order=copy,ffmpeg
copy-remuxto=.wtv
copy-audiodelay=skip
ffmpeg-general=-threads 0
ffmpeg-video=-ss 3 -vcodec mpeg2video -qscale 2 -map 0:a -map 0:v
ffmpeg-audio=-acodec ac3 -ab 192k
ffmpeg-audioac3=-acodec ac3 -ab 384K
ffmpeg-ext=.wtv
ffmpeg-audiodelay=skip
FixedResolution=true
SkipCropping=true

if you notice the order of encoders are copy followed by ffmpeg. ie. if copy fails then it falls back to ffmpeg

the Copy encoder is a special encoder with no audio/video parameters so essentially it just moves the input file into a WTV format after removing commercials. Please note that this profile only works correctly in the latest BETA release due to a bug.

the FFMPEG is backup, which is where the AC3 codec comes into the picture. This helps maintain audio video sync but if you'd like you can replace that with-acodec copy  to just copy over the original stream without recoding it.

This will need to look into, not promising anything. Meanwhile instead of chapter you can select the Skip commercial cutting option and it will gnerate the EDL file for you.

Also with the 2.3.12 beta there shouldn't any ANY audio sync issues with ANY profile. Paid special attention to that with the latest 2.3.12 BETA version to remove all audio video sync issues. Try it if you're still facing issue let me konw

Changelog for 2.3.12 (32bit and 64bit)
1. Enhancement: Updated AVIDemux to 2.6.1, better TS commercial removal stability
2. Enhancement: Some profiles are about 23% faster during conversion now
3. Enhancement: Speed up cancelling a job, now almost instant
4. Enhancement: UniversalCommercialRemover=true now forces all commercial removal to happen post conversion using the new Universal Commercial remover, unless PreConversionCommercialRemover=true is specified. Used a backup if commercial removal for TS/WTV file are failing.
5. Enhancement: Added support for PreConversionCommercialRemover=true. This forces all commercials to be cut before the conversion. Very helpful for some profiles like AVI MPEG2 which has constant Audio Video sync issues.
6. Enhancement: Added support for %airhourampm%, %recordhourampm% to custom commands and custom rename. Also added %recordhour% to custom commands
7. Enhancement: Updated Handbrake to 0.9.8, faster conversion
8. Enhancement: If user specifies Audio language selection in profile command parameters, MCEBuddy will not override it
9. Enhancement: MCEBuddy will only isolate audio language is specifically request by user (i.e. not set to <default>). Otherwise it leave audio track selection to the encoders
10. Enhancement: CustomCommand Month,Day,Hour,Minute are single digit numbers by default i.e. 9 instead of 09
11. Enhancement: Now MCEBuddy support multiple audio tracks in output file. If you select <Default> as the Audio Language in the conversion options AND add "-map 0:a -map 0:v" in the ffmpeg-video section for the ffmpeg profile and it will copy/convert all audio tracks. This only works with ffmpeg profiles.
12. Enhancement: MCEBuddy now handles files with corrupted audio and 0 channel audio much better. Identifies them correctly and converts them appropriately and fast.
13. Enhancement: Normal naming convention does not use record date in the name if the season and episode information are available
14. Enhancement: Better matching on TVDB and MovieDB for names
15. Enhancement: TS and AVI MPEG2 profiles have been renamed to better consistency
16. New Feature: Added support for only renaming files on Conversion Options. When selected, all video processing options are disabled, except for Custom Command which will work. This option allows MCEBuddy to download the media information and sort and rename the original files.
17. New Feature: By default most profiles now support output for Multiple Audio tracks if the input contains multiple audio tracks and Audio Language is set to <Default>
18. New Feature: Added support for handling power events (sometimes would cause conversion to fail after resuming from standy or hibernate)
19. New Feature: Added support for settings CPU Affinity through CPUAffinity parameter in MCEBuddy.conf. Refer to documentation for more details.
20. New Feature: Added support for %ismovie%<RenamePatternIfTrue,RenamePatternIfFalse> to the custom renaming. This allows for 2 separate renaming patterns if it’s a movie or if it’s a TV show.
21. New Feature: Added support for DownloadBanner=false in mcebuddy.conf to override downloading banner/artwork
22. BugFix: Non TS/DVRMS/WTV files not remuxed when commercial removal disabled
23. BugFix: <encoder>- unsupported flag was broken in 2.3.11, fixed
24. BugFix: Fixed conversion failures due to Zero Channel audio tracks which caused Trimming and conversion issues for TS and WTV files
25. BugFix: Fixed bugs in Custom Commands, some parameters broken
26. BugFix: Hang if get MediaInfo is clicked while paused
27. BugFix: Bugfix in cropping, causing the conversion to fail sometimes
28. BugFix: Very small cuts (<5 seconds) sometimes caused the commercial removal to fail
29. BugFix: Some WTV files are not being read by FFMPEG, use RemuxSupp instead
30. BugFix: When there are over 1000 files in the queue, the GUI starts flash

New Post: Set CPU Core Affinity for Handbrake

$
0
0

I've been trying the CPUAffinity=integer command and everytime I set it, when the server runs, it resets the value back to 0.  I was trying to understand the way you implemented this.  Microsoft uses (in the case of the I7 which has 8 cores) bitmap values such that 1 enables core 0, 2 enables core 1, 4 enables core 2, etc.   So if I wanted to enable cores 4,5,6,7 I would use a bitmask of 240 (128+64+32+16).  If I'm misunderstanding this, could you please clarify?

Thanks again.
